PLM was launched in 1987 to offer a freelance independent relocation service, initially to companies in the commercial sector, taking them from the decision to move right through property search, negotiation and fit out stages to finally organising the company move.

In 1990 PLM won a tender to move a major national charity from the Home Counties to Central London and from that date has worked extensively (but not solely) in the charity sector as can be seen from our Client List.

PLM is also on the Register of the Ethical Property Foundation and have run Training Workshops with the Foundation on Relocation Issues. Last year we ran two further Training Workshops for CaSVA in Hammersmith. We believe it is essential that property decisions are made from an informed position and that any costly mistakes can be avoided by accessing the necessary professional expertise as and when needed.

PLM does not advertise and our work comes via the personal recommendations of our clients. Our understanding of the budget constraints of the charity sector have led to the development of particular connections in the new and second-hand office furniture market to ensure that we can obtain the best possible deals for our clients. Over the last 23 years we have built strong relationships with many property developers and commercial estate agencies and this means we have advance knowledge of property availability and the personal connections to negotiate the best possible terms. PLM is a small consultancy by choice - the consultant assigned to a project becomes almost like a part-time member of staff with all the necessary expertise required. We facilitate the selection of contractors obtaining three quotes for each aspect and assist with final choice but we remain objective and act in the client's interest throughout. We have contractors whose work we have experienced and can recommend but the choice is always the clients.

In the last few years we have been involved in several rent review negotiations for both old and new clients and also settled dilapidation schedules for our relocating clients (some with extremely successful reductions in costs). Several organisations have approached us recently to assist them to re-plan their existing space as moving is not a possibility. We have really enjoyed this new challenge and even surprised ourselves with the increased and improved office space that we have been able to achieve.
